Angel AIM board

Local businessmen representing the wide variety of business sectors and sizes at the Angel make up our board. They give their time and skills for free, in the interests of improving the area for everyone working and living here.

The board meets monthly and is responsible for developing and agreeing policy, providing strategic direction and support, agreeing budgets, performance monitoring and corporate governance. We always welcome applications from any business interested in joining our board.

Lynne Burdon

Lynne has lived and worked in Islington for over 20 years, founding Bolt Burdon in 1986 with Roger Bolt. She is now Managing Partner of Bolt Burdon and Bolt Burdon Kemp and employs almost 100 people. Lynne believes Islington should be a good place to both live and work, with businesses thriving and providing jobs for residents.

Paul Williams

Paul Williams has worked in the property world exclusively in Islington since 1986 and has intimate and extensive knowledge of the market and the local trading environment. He was managing director of Holden Matthews when it successfully merged with international property company Savills in 2005 and now, as a director of Savills, he is responsible for the Islington office

Nick Segal

Family business Frederick’s was started by Nick’s father Lou and has been serving food and drink to the people of the Angel for over 40 years. Nick trained as a chartered accountant, has a variety of other business interests, and has been an active member of the business improvement district since it began.

Martin Klute

St Peter’s Ward includes much of the Angel AIM area within its boundaries, and as well as being an elected member for the ward, Martin Klute works for an architectural practice in Clerkenwell, specialising in education projects, mixed housing schemes, and complex inner city regeneration, often discovering imaginative new uses for redundant listed buildings

Dominic Jones

With an extensive career background in property and law, Dominic began working for the Morris family at the Business Design Centre - Europe’s first integrated trade and exhibition centre – in 1991. Starting on the property side, and then moving into exhibition sales and marketing, Dominic was perfectly placed to be appointed Chief Executive of the BDC in October 1999

David Gibson

David first came to Islington over 40 years ago. Having trained as a modernist architect with James Stirling and Colin St.John Wilson, he now has a reputation as a conservation architect.
David believes that good architecture in ordinary circumstances improves the world. He has been involved in many local organisations making sure the environment is both preserved and improved to better the quality of people’s lives.

Matthew Crawford

Matthew has strong family connections with Islington and opened a furniture restoration business in the heart of the Angel 15 years ago. He also owns After Noah on Upper Street and, living above the shop with his family, has both a personal and professional interest in making the area safer and cleaner.

Robert Coyle

Robert Coyle is a founding partner of Colman Coyle, a solicitors’ practice he started with Howard Colman in Camden Passage in 1984. The firm has grown over the years but is still at the heart of the Angel area with offices overlooking Islington Green. Robert’s main responsibility is being in charge of the Property Department, with particular reference to Commercial Property. However, in years past he was involved in company matters, and gained an MA in European Business Law in 2001.
