Streets at the Angel are often narrower than we’d like and we’ve had a few complaints about advertising boards causing hazards for people trying to walk past. So - we’re asking all businesses at the Angel, who use an A-board on the pavement for advertising, to take a look outside and make sure it’s not getting in the way.
We suggest you be particularly thoughtful about people with pushchairs, in wheelchairs, and those who can’t see very well and ask yourself – is my A-board a hazard? Could someone trip over it and get hurt?
If the answer is yes, please move it to a safer place or expect a visit from Islington Council’s Street Environment Wardens who we’re working with to de-clutter the footways and make them safer.
Over the next few weeks the wardens will be patrolling the Angel checking whether any A-boards are obstructing the pavements and narrow footways, such as Camden Passage, and posing risks for pedestrians.
Any businesses whose boards are judged to be getting in the way will be asked to move them into a safer position. We’d be grateful if people would take notice of this advice – ignoring it could result in someone having an accident and you paying a fine.
