The borough of Islington has won the coveted gold award for the London in Bloom competition for 2008 and Angel was rated as one of the top three sites in the Town and City Centre category.
London Tourist Board introduced the awards in 1967 and all 33 London Boroughs participate. The award is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society and criteria include not only floral displays, but environmental considerations as well, such as clean streets and recycling initiatives.
Angel BID has worked with Islington Council’s greenspace team to ensure that BID members get maximum value for their contribution to the hanging baskets in the area and we are planning to increase the number of baskets each year to ensure that the Angel is an attractive place to work in and visit.
