Business scams – forewarned is forearmed

Don’t let your business be caught out by criminal scams and cons aimed to cheat you. Keep up to date with the latest tricks used by fraudsters by regularly checking the business section of Islington Council’s website which is updated by trading standards officers with news of the latest scams and how to spot them.

You can also help other businesses avoid being hit by scams through helping set up a fraud grapevine sharing your experience if someone’s tried to target you – especially if they’ve done it by email. Email scams seem to be on the increase say Islington’s Trading Standards team who are considering setting up the warning system where businesses who are aware of a scam, or have fallen victim to crime, can warn others.

As well as national scams, this sharing of intelligence and feedback could also cover local crimes and maybe even help Islington police catch those responsible. Are you interested in joining a local scheme run by Islington Business Partnership? Would you be happy to share your experiences with others? Would you like to join the partnership and receive email alerts of local scams anyway?
