Crossrail and the Business Rate Supplement

The Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority have published proposals for the introduction of the Business Rate Supplement due to start in April 2010. This will go towards funding the Crossrail Project at an estimated cost of £15.9 billion. The GLA has agreed to contribute £4.12 billion which will be raised from an annual 2% levy on businesses with a rateable value of £50,000 or above.
