They might be working with local educational establishments to help raise aspirations and achievement, contributing to the ecomonic regeneration of our area, improving the quality of life for people who are socially excluded, showing other companies how they can get more involved in the community, or be a single volunteer whose help over the past year has been invaluable.
Founded in 1987, the awards celebrate the part played by corporate community involvement in building stronger communities and culminate in a ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House in October. Dragon Award winners get plenty of press coverage and are recognised by their peers and competitors as offering exemplary programmes of Corporate Community Involvement.
The awards are looking to recognise and reward businesses and public bodies of all types and sizes that go above and beyond their core work to make a significant impact on the social development and economic regeneration of their local communities. Nominations are also welcome from community organisations who would like the work of their corporate partners to be recognised.
The awards are designed not only to improve the outlook for communities but also to foster team work and mutual respect between the businesses and their communities. They demonstrate the benefits that businesses can also gain from such involvement – notably in terms of development of new skills, heightened creativity, new routes to market, and increased employee motivation and retention.
The awards are open to businesses in all London boroughs and nominations must be in by July 18 2008.
