Be seen to be green - and attract visitors

Are you a hotel, guesthouse, tourist attraction or venue at the Angel?
Would you like to save money and improve your environmental performance at the same time?

Consider joining Green Tourism for London - the first independently audited green accreditation scheme for the capital’s tourist destinations – aimed specifically at hotels, attractions and other tourist businesses. Over 50 businesses have already joined the scheme, including The 02, The Royal Lancaster Hotel and Kew Gardens. And there’s a reception on July 23 so you can find out how the London Development Agency’s GTfL can help your business attract more customers and perform more efficiently and sustainably in the future.

Research shows that 31% of holidaymakers now consider sustainability issues when making holiday plans, and the issue is increasingly driving corporate bookings as well. Joining GTfL means you can prove your green credentials – as well as operating sustainably, this includes actively promoting public transport, local cultural activities and London’s open spaces.

Launched in 2007, the scheme has three main aims - to help you improve your resource and energy management, to cut your costs and, by awarding a Bronze, Silver or Gold award, to help visitors assess the true green credentials of your business before booking.

And for the first two years the LDA is offering a subsidised rate to the first 150 businesses to join.
Find out who’s joined up and why from the businesses themselves - and do some networking - at the reception in the fabulous summer setting of Kew Gardens.
