From woolies to Waitrose

After 80 years trading at the corner of Liverpool Road and Chapel Market, Islington’s much-loved landmark Woolworths store has been sold to Waitrose which will open in time for Christmas.

News about the sale of the store, which opened in May 1929, has been greeted with mixed reactions from shoppers, market traders and other businesses in the area – but whatever your views – get down to Woolies before they close in August because there are some huge bargains to be had in their biggest sale ever.
